A frog comes into our room. She squats on the floor, gazing at us
with her big eyes, as if she knows us. Can we talk about it?
Our similarities, sounds, a few basic words
like “wow” or “ah.” The biological clocks in our bodies—
they chime separately. They urge the frog while she urges us.
As if there are too many windows, everything shines.
As if she behaves like this for us. I hope desire is just like her,
destroying the body for a moment that’s never existed, and will never come.
There was another frog, three or thirty years ago.
It sounded like it was present but was not. It leapt here and there,
searching for us hidden behind the dressing mirror.
We had all vanished. It didn’t know what was going on.
