John W. Evans
John W. Evans is the author of the chapbook The Fight Journal, winner of the 2023 Rattle Prize. He is also the author of Should I Still Wish: A Memoir (Nebraska, 2017), Young Widower: A Memoir (Nebraska, 2014), and The Consolations (Trio House, 2014). His work has appeared in the Gettysburg Review, Slate, the Missouri Review, and Best American Essays, and has won various prizes including the River Teeth Book Prize (2014), the Peace Corps Writers Book Prize (2015), a ForeWord Reviews Book Prize (2015), the Sawtooth Poetry Prize (2009), and the Trio Award (2014). He teaches creative writing at Stanford University, where he is currently the Phyllis Draper Lecturer of Creative Nonfiction and also the Lecturer of DCI Memoir.
