
M Freeman
Media artist, writer, interdisciplinary, and queer, M Freeman is the author of The Illuminated Space: A Personal Theory & Contemplative Practice of Media Art (The 3rd Thing Press, 2020) and winner of the Nautilus Book Award’s Gold Medal for Creativity & Innovation. Recipient of multiple Washington State Artist Trust Fellowships in Media Arts, Freeman is creator of Cinema Divina—evocative short films made through and for contemplative practice. Their text and media arts pieces can be found at Ninth Letter, TriQuarterly, Fourth Genre, Rolling Stone, Blackbird, and Good Symptom: A Serial Anthology of Time-Based Disturbances—online by The 3rd Thing Press, 2023–24, for which Freeman co-curated the film selections. Freeman’s films have been or are being exhibited on PBS and in movie theaters, retreat centers, galleries, and at film festivals worldwide.
