Savannah Balmir

Savannah Balmir is a Caribbean-American writer from Mount Vernon, New York. She studied English and French at Howard University and earned her MFA at the University of Kentucky where she won the 2024 University of Kentucky Fiction Award. Savannah is a Kimbilio Fiction Fellow, an Oxbelly Fiction Fellow, and a 2024 Albers Foundation artist-in-residence at Thread Senegal. Savannah’s work has been published or is forthcoming in Kweli Journal, Michigan Quarterly Review, Pinch Journal, and Pree Magazine. She is also a co-founder of Writers Rest, a traveling community and retreat for Black Womxn writers. Savannah is currently based in Dallas, Texas.
