DAVID RUSH

David Rush has had productions of his plays at the Mark Taper Forum, Playwrights Horizons, Manhattan Theatre Club, Stage Left, Chicago Dramatists and others. His scripts have had readings and workshops at major festivals, including the Phoenix Theatre’s Hormel New Works Festival, Great Plains Theatre Conference, Odyssey Theater, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, and Abingdon Theatre Company. He has won several national playwriting contests, including Dayton FutureFest, The Firehouse Theatre Project Festival of New American Plays, and the Icicle Creek New Play Festival. His awards include several Jeff Awards, a Los Angeles DramaLogue Award, and two Midwest Emmy Awards. He was a 2010 playwright-in-residence at the Inge Center, and has been a member of the ensemble at Stage Left Theatre and a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists. He has taught playwriting at Southern Illinois University–Carbondale, Texas State University–San Marcos, Northwestern University, and other schools. Rush is the author of two textbooks published by Southern Illinois University Press: Building Your Play: Theory and Practice for the Beginning Playwright (2010) and A Student Guide to Play Analysis (2005).  end
