PETER SCHERTZ

Peter Schertz is the Jack and Mary Ann Frable Curator of Ancient Art at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Since coming to the VMFA in 2006, Schertz has worked on the exhibition Mummy: Secret of the Tomb and on the reinstallation of the collection. He was the codirector of an NEH–funded project on VMFA’s statue of the emperor Gaius (better known as “Caligula”) that created digital models and color reconstructions of the original statue’s appearance. Schertz is currently the codirector of the Arch of Titus Digital Restoration Project and is developing the exhibition Divine Aspirations: Art and Faith in Imperial Rome.  end
