Peter Sellers on The Muppet Show

In the dressing room with the star on the door, he stands:
corset, horned helmet, a wispy beard
attached with spirit glue, his face crazed in the full-length

mirror. From behind his clipboard, Kermit
is empathetic: Mr. Sellers, you don’t have to play a character
here—you can be yourself. Sellers twists his face

like an actor twisting his face: Zere iss no Peter Sellerss here—
I had heem surgically rrrremoved.
At which point

the hand inside the puppet clenches, pulling
Kermit’s face into a cringe.  end
