Pastoral (Future Interstate)

Under a tattered billboard, horses

graze. A shadow the shape of a cloud

schooners the grass. The screws  in my heel

tighten. It will rain in several

miles. A call, a message: a voice

separating from time like ice

broken, washed downstream.  end
