A Reading by Sandra Lim

The 18th Annual Levis Reading Prize event took place at the Grace Street Theatre on October 8, 2015. The four audio recordings to the right were captured during the event.

Gregory Donovan’s essay, “The Self and Soul,” discusses “Elegy with a Thimbleful of Water in the Cage,” a central poem in Levis’s final collection, Elegy (University of Pittsburgh Press, 1997).

John Ulmschneider’s welcome includes a special thanks to the sponsors of the Levis Reading Prize, and David Wojahn addresses the particular strengths of the winner, Sandra Lim, and her winning collection, The Wilderness (W.W. Norton & Company, 2014).

Her reading from The Wilderness concludes the evening. It is accompanied by a transcript.  end
