back SANDRA MARCHETTI

Denouement

Beer on the bricks and cheap meat—
piss that brines the seats
and the frame as we exit
the park at the end of the game.

A dozen doors thwack open
dull as scrapped cups.
Through the clatter, a popcorn vendor
crams his bags in the trash.

We meet in a square
of air below the stairs
to curse and bless,
sopped with sweat.

Hands grimed on tunnel walls,
slathered in mustard and ads,
shuffle us from the cube in sun,
ants pressed away from the day.
