back SETH BRADY TUCKER

Technology Used by Dogs

Her text is slobbered
and worried,
U R stinsk,
which
I must then show Moby
from a couple different
angles because it is hard
for a dog.
And his text back
to Hazel doesn’t mince
words or offer apology
for stealing her favorite
bone, and when he tongues
around the clumps of kibble
and drool to craft his reply,
he has written,
Bites U!
across the screen and like that
goes out into the garage,
and all I can hear are power
tools screaming and the banging
of hammers and growling and
a vacuum running and howling
and Hazel’s eyes are filled
with love and desperation
and unconditional need,
hurt buried deep in the dark
brown pools
of her labretard eyes.
