Brian Henry
BRIAN HENRY

Brian Henry is the author of eleven collections of poetry, including Static & Snow (Black Ocean, 2015), Brother No One (Salt Publishing, 2013), and Doppelganger (Talisman House, 2011). He has translated five books from Slovenian, including Aleš Šteger’s Above the Sky Beneath the Earth, forthcoming from White Pine Press in 2020, and The Book of Things (BOA Editions, 2010), winner of both the 2011 Best Translated Book Award and the AATSEEL Prize for Best Literary Translation into English. He has also translated Aleš Debeljak’s Smugglers (BOA Editions, 2015) and Tomaž Šalamun’s Woods and Chalices (Harcourt, 2007). Henry’s translations have appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and Poetry. He has received numerous honors, including a National Endowment for the Arts Translation Fellowship, a Howard Foundation Translation Fellowship, and a Slovenian Academy of Arts and Sciences Translation Grant. He teaches English and creative writing at the University of Richmond.  end
