Bees

Little
engineers

of much that
is sweet,

you tumble
into the stars,

panicles,
and umbles

of our
blossoming

world,
emerging

in yellow
splendor,

caparisoned
in tiny

suns.
Fine fellows

of the humming
universe,

conversant
in generation,

dancing
your nation’s

intelligence
forward

in rumor
and buzz,

forgive us
our trespass

against the great
green earth,

your habitat.
Our kind

can be blind
to just deserts.
