J. David Stevens teaches creative writing at Seton Hall University and lives in northern New Jersey. His most recent stories appear in Harper's Magazine, The Paris Review, Mid-American Review, and Notre Dame Review, among other publications. He is also a literary critic, and his book The Word Rides Again: Rereading the Frontier in American Fiction was published by Ohio University Press earlier this year. He is a native of Richmond, Virginia.
