RICHARD ROTH | Collecting Myself

The Ray Gun Wing (1972) housed a collection of ray guns as well as objects in the shape of a ray gun, including even rusty scraps of metal having silhouettes vaguely resembling a right angle. Like other early Oldenburgs these collections problematized the relationship between the museum and the store (another natural habitat for collections—the store is the evil twin of the museum).
