CHARLES ROSE

Charles Rose is the author of the nonfiction book In the Midst of Life: A Hospice Volunteer’s Story (NewSouth Books, 2004). His short stories have appeared most recently in Chicago Quarterly Review, Southern Humanities Review, Shenandoah, The Chattahoochee Review, Alabama Literary Review, Passager, Crazyhorse, Georgetown Review, and Willow Springs. His essays and book reviews have also appeared widely, in such journals as The Georgia Review, The Southern Review, Conradiana, and First Draft: The Journal of the Alabama Writers' Forum. He is the recipient of a fellowship from the Alabama State Council on the Arts, as well as scholarships to the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers’ Conferences. Rose holds an AB from Vanderbilt University, and an MA and PhD from the University of Florida. He is Associate-Professor Emeritus from Auburn University.
