Blackbird publishes new issues twice a year. The notion of “issue” is both a nod to the print journal and a way for us to call attention to the new work of a limited number of writers. However, publishing online allows us keep all issues available for reading, listening, and viewing. On this page, we wish to point you toward some of the content you may have missed but which still lives in our Archives.

		Sylvia Plath's “Ennui” “It is difficult to realize how hard Plath worked to perfect her craft unless you read the poems written before 1956,” Karen V. Kukil, editor of The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath, wrote to us; “many of these poems, like ‘Ennui,’ deserve publication.” We are grateful to the estate of Sylvia Plath for granting Blackbird first serial publication rights to “Ennui.”
		A Reading by Natasha Trethewey       Congratulations to Natasha Trethewey, winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize in poetry for Native Guard (Houghton Mifflin, 2006). 		How Beautiful Thy Feet With Shoes Janet Peery’s short story, “How Beautiful Thy Feet With Shoes” (v5n1), is now included in her new collection of interlinked stories, What The Thunder Said: A Novella and Stories, published by St. Martin's Press in March 2007. The story is renamed “Set Me as a Seal upon Thine Heart” and appears as the book’s “Prologue.”
		Laura Lark Visual artist Laura Lark's Aura and Ten Really Short Videos (v5n1) appear as well in our fall 2005 issue, but additional commentary on her work was delayed until late in the issue’s run. We urge you to give these two videos and contextual essays a new—or second—look.
		Claudia Emerson, November 2002 and May 2003 In November 2002, we published Susan Settlemyre Williams’s review of Pinion, the second collection by poet Claudia Emerson, along with an audio interview of Emerson. In May 2003 we published four poems that were later included in Emerson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning collection, Late Wife.
		The Spirit Tablets at Goa Lake (published serially across three issues) We began publishing Norman Dubie’s book-length poem, The Spirit Tablets at Goa Lake, with “Book of the Jewel Worm” (v1n2). “Book of the Jaspers” (v2n1), and “The Book of the Crying Kanglings” (v2n2), followed respectively. This Buddhist-inspired futurist poem is narrated by an amateur mathematician in 2277.
