Aleš Debeljak is the author of Smugglers (forthcoming from BOA Editions, Ltd. in 2015) and Without Anesthesia: New and Selected Poems (Persea Books, 2011), both translated from the Slovenian by Brian Henry. Debeljak is the author of eight books of poetry and twelve books of essays in Slovenian, and his work has been translated into English, Japanese, German, Croatian, Serbian, Polish, Hungarian, Czech, Spanish, Slovak, Finnish, Lithuanian, and Italian. He has received a 1990 Prešeren Foundation Award, the Miriam Lindberg Israel Poetry for Peace Prize, the Chiqyu Poetry Prize in Japan, and a 2009 Jenko Prize. Debeljak teaches in the Department of Cultural Studies at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia.  end
