SOFIA STARNES

Sofia M. Starnes is the author of five poetry collections: The Consequence of Moonlight (forthcoming from Paraclete Press); Love and the Afterlife (Franciscan University Press, 2012); Corpus Homini: A Poem for Single Flesh (Wings Press, 2008), which won the Whitebird Prize; A Commerce of Moments (Pavement Saw Press, 2003), which won the Editor’s Prize in the Transcontinental Poetry Awards; and The Soul’s Landscape (Aldrich Museum Press, 2002), which was co-winner of the Aldrich Press Poetry Book Award. She is the editor of two anthologies from Cedar Creek Press: The Nearest Poem Anthology (2014), and Four Virginia Poets Laureate: An Anthology and Readers’ Guide (2011). Her awards include the Rainer Maria Rilke Poetry Prize, the Christianity & Literature Poetry Prize, the Marlboro Review Prize for Poetry, among other commendations. In 2013, she was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters degree by Union College–Kentucky. She served as Virginia’s 2012–2014 Poet Laureate, and presently serves as Poetry Editor and Poetry Book Review Editor of the Anglican Theological Review.  end
